As part of our Salute to Veterans, today we honor Hanna Alverez. She served overseas during desert storm and survived colon cancer. Hear how she reacts to a surprise vacation, thanks to VISIT FLORIDA!

“Hanna was a medic in the army and served overseas during desert storm in Iran and Afghanistan. She is such a wonderful person. She has survived colon cancer and continues to give everything she has to everyone. She is a chaperone on our daughter’s color guard team and is known to the girl’s as Mamma Hanna. She gets attitude from other chaperone’s because she goes above and beyond. She never asks for anything and she has helped me through some of my own physical impairments. I wish I could give this trip to her for everything she has done for everyone and expected nothing in return. Words cannot truly explain the awesome woman she is. She deserves to be recognized not only for her service but for the kindness and joy she brings to people. She doesn’t do anything for herself and has bragged about pants that she bought at goodwill. She puts everyone above herself and I would love to be able to give her this gift of a vacation, by telling you what a awesome person she is.”
