200 new critics at Rotten Tomatoes… HBO dropped its late-night programming… Kelly Clarkson’s mini concert… Taylor Swift as a free agent… and Will Kourtney Kardashian renew her reality TV contract?

Rotten Tomatoes wants to shake things up. Their critics have been criticized — ironically — for being mostly white men. According to a recent study by USC, white critics wrote 82% of the reviews of the top 100-grossing movies last year, while critics from other racial and ethnic backgrounds wrote the rest. And just over 20% were written by women. So now Rotten Tomatoes is going to change their criteria to include new media platforms, like podcasts and streaming shows and bloggers, as opposed to only using written critiques. In fact, over 200 new critics have been approved to be part of the Tomatometer, and they expect to keep adding more.

You may or may not have noticed, but HBO has quietly dropped its naughty late-night programming. They’d been phasing out erotic entertainment gradually, but it’s completely gone now. HBO says demand for that stuff has died off because people can easily get way more explicit material from other sources. Showtime subscribers don’t need to panic, though. They’re still going to give you all the naughty programming you want.

Kelly Clarkson kicked off the US Open with a mini-concert, performing six of her biggest hits including Big Al’s favorite, “Since U Been Gone.” And after that performance, Twitterverse erupted with demands that Kelly be hired as the next Super Bowl Halftime performer! In fact, they even started a petition to make this happen. But here’s the thing, Kelly said last year that she would never take the Halftime gig. When asked about it, she said, “No! You have to pay to do it! I’m not paying. You pay me!…. I’ve been doing this too long, y’all. I ain’t paying people.” Kelly DID sing the National Anthem at Super Bowl XLVI in 2012.

In less than 3 months, Taylor Swift will be a free agent. She has been locked into a contract with Big Machine Records since its founder and CEO Scott Borchetta signed her at age 15. Taylor has been free to negotiate with rival labels, but she’s not free to sign anything until November. Of course, Big Machine would love to keep her where she is, but we’ll have to wait and see! Several music business insiders say it’s possible that she could command a deal that’s worth $20 million per album.

Kim Kardashian says Kourtney Kardashian is boring to look at. Oh yeah! How about just not looking at her AT ALL. RadarOnline.com says Kourtney has had it with “Keeping Up With the Kardashians.” Their source says she wants to quit the show and move to NY with her kids. Their source says, “She’s just done with the family. She doesn’t want to be a Kardashian anymore…Honestly, if Kourtney could get married today and have a different last name she totally would!” But even though Kourtney would like to leave the show ASAP, she’s locked into a multi-million dollar contract that keeps her there through next year.
