Coachella was fined… Kim Kardashian leads young influencers… Yellowstone update… Jamie Foxx “steadily improving”… and Tom Sandoval called out Miraval Resorts
Listen to “Showbiz – Apr 18, 2023” on Spreaker.
The music went well into the night and spilled a little too far into the next morning, and now Coachella organizers have to pay the price. Curfew at Coachella is 1AM on Friday and Saturday nights and midnight on Sunday. They missed the cutoff times on all three nights, going over by 25 minutes Friday, 22 minutes Saturday, and another 25 minutes Sunday. The daily fine is $20K for the first 5 minutes past curfew, with another $1K tacked on for every minute after. That means Coachella owes the city of Indio, CA, which is where the music festival is held, $117K. We’ll see if that affects their time management this weekend.

Back in February, Kim Kardashian gathered a bunch of young influencers and established the Future Shapers Advisory Council. Her goal is to get the next generation fired up about the criminal justice reform movement. Some of Kim’s hand-chosen members include Charli and Dixie D’Amelio, Bryce Young, Hannah Jackson, and Jack Wright. Yesterday, Kim and her sister Khloe escorted these influencers into a California prison where they spent several hours visiting with inmates and members of the REFORM Alliance, a group that helps ex-cons successfully return to society. They pretty much all wore black because they wanted to look very serious. Kim knows that if these young people talk to prisoners and hear their stories, it will fuel their passion and commitment to advocate for reform. After their visit, Kim treated them all to steak and seafood at La Papillon.

Rumors began began back in February that “Yellowstone” would be ending after Season 5, and now it’s looking more like the truth. Sources told the “New York Post” that there’s a lot of friction between the show’s star Kevin Costner and the show runner, Taylor Sheridan, who considers HIMSELF to be the true star. Taylor not only created “Yellowstone,” he writes the scripts. Taylor is also the creator and writer of the “Yellowstone” spinoffs “1883” and “1923,” he’s also behind the creation and scripts for “Tulsa King” with Sly Stallone and “Mayor of Kingstown,” starring Jeremy Renner. The source said Taylor’s ego is basically out of control, telling the Post, “He’s the most important person on all of this shows.” So if they can’t work things out and this is the end of “Yellowstone,” will Kevin come back to film the final half of Season 5? The first half ended in January and it’s not known when the second half will be ready for air. Production hasn’t even started and there’s a potential writers’ strike coming.

Jamie Foxx remains hospitalized one week after suffering an unknown medical complication. A source told “People” that doctors are running lots of tests trying to figure out exactly what happened. Jamie has been filming “Back in Action” in the Atlanta area, but the medical complication didn’t happen when he was on set. And “People” says despite previous reports, Jamie wasn’t taken to the hospital by ambulance. But as they say in Hollywood, the show must go on! While the set was shut down last Wednesday, filming picked up again on Thursday using a stand-in for Jamie. They’ll film around him as much as possible until he’s able to return.

Tom Sandoval is trying to work on himself and nobody will let him. He apparently checked into the Miraval luxury wellness spa, where rooms start at almost $3K per night. On their website, Miraval promises: “Your path to mindfulness & wellbeing begins here. Tucked away at the base of the Santa Catalina Mountains, Miraval Arizona Resort and Spa invites you to observe, engage, and raise your awareness. Our world-renowned, all-inclusive wellness retreat sits atop 400 acres of idyllic land where you can experience peace, balance, and harmony. Ignite your inner spark with imaginative activities, unique treatments, and deep relaxation methods at the Life in Balance Spa designed to mirror the Sonoran Desert’s serene spirit.” I don’t see anywhere in there that they promise to keep your stay a secret. Tom blasted the resort on Instagram, posting, “I’m beyond disappointed in @MiravalResorts @MiravalArizona and their decision to pose to their Instagram account this weekend alluding to me staying there this week. They claim to be a refuge for wellness and betterment, but that is obviously false.” He went on to say, “I planned a trip to go there completely alone to try and find some peace. Miraval clearly isn’t the place for that. Special shout-out to the general manager who refuses to take any responsibility for the actions of his team even though he considered the post ‘in poor taste.’” So what happened here? Tom reposted a screenshot from @MiravalArizona which showed a picture of one of their bars and the caption, “You know that it’s our time, these are the best days of our life” with a martini emoji. Someone in the comments posted “Nice #Scandoval reference.” So it was a less blatant “TOM SANDOVAL IS STAYING HERE” and more of an allusion to it…..maybe? Tom obviously believes to be blatant and he is ticked. Meantime, his mistress Raquel Leviss checked herself into a mental health facility, but has so far managed to keep her whereabouts a secret.
