“The Super Mario Bros. Movie” is still dominating at the box office. In its fourth week of release, it took in another $40M domestically and crossed the $1B mark globally. “Evil Dead Rise” came in second with $12.2M. “Are You There God? It’s Me, Margaret” opened in third place with $6.8M, especially disappointing because the movie cost $30M to make. The studio is hoping it gains momentum thru the Mother’s Day weekend…In fourth place was “John Wick: Chapter 4” at $5M. And to mark the 40th anniversary of the movie, Disney put “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi” back in theaters. It placed fifth with $4.7M.

It’s Coronation Week! Prince William will be right by his father’s side as King Charles ascends the throne. Prince William will serve as the king’s “liege man of life and limb,” the same role his grandfather Prince Philip played for Queen Elizabeth’s coronation. Prince William will get down on his knees before his father and pledge, “I, William, Prince of Wales, pledge my loyalty to you and faith and truth I will bear unto you, as your liege man of life and limb. So help me God.” We’re not sure what role Prince Harry will play this weekend, if he even shows up. Even though Buckingham Palace announced Prince Harry would be attending while Meghan stays home with the kids, sources told “The Mail” that Harry might not show up at all. However, one source said, “The working assumption now is that, assuming he does come, it could mean arriving as late as very early Saturday by private jet and leaving by late afternoon the same day.” That might get Harry home in time to celebrate his son Archie’s 4th birthday.

Former Navarro College cheerleader Madi Lane is suing Monica Aldama, claiming that after told the coach about being sexually assaulted by a male cheerleader, Monica basically told her to keep quiet if she wanted to keep cheering. Monica told TMZ that she is “heartbroken by the false allegations,” and that she would never remain silent if she ever became “aware that any sexual misconduct occurred in the Cheer program.” A rep for Navarro College is backing up their coach, telling TMZ the college plans to “vigorously defend itself in court.”

Is Sydney Sweeney still engaged to Chicago restauranteur Jonathan Davino or did she dump him for “Anyone But You” co-star Glen Powell? It certainly didn’t help stop the rumors last week when photographers snapped Jonathan leaving Sydney’s home in West LA with packed bags and her dog. But Friday night, Sydney and Jonathan stepped out in NYC together for a date night. They weren’t exactly putting on a loved-up display and Sydney still isn’t wearing her engagement ring. The next night, they were back out again, this time to see the off-Broadway production of “Little Shop of Horrors,” with no engagement ring in sight.

The Super Bowl of Fashion — the Met Gala — is tonight. This is a benefit to raise money for the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute, but none of us care about that. And neither do the celebrities who get invited to pose their way up the steps into the museum tonight. Tickets to this year’s Gala are at an all-time high, selling for $50K a pop, or $300K for a table. But it doesn’t matter how much you pay, “Vogue” editor Anna Wintour is in charge of the guest list. Every single person who crosses that threshold has gotten Anna’s stamp of approval. Celebrities usually don’t pay because they’re typically the guests of designers who buy tables and then dress them. But a source told “Cosmopolitan” that a lot of designers are passing on buying tables this year because they don’t want to stick to this year’s theme, which is a tribute to Chanel’s Karl Lagerfeld. Blake Lively announced that she won’t attend this year’s event. And despite rumors that Anna declined to invite any Kardashians, Kim has arrived in NYC, along with her daughter North, niece Penelope, and Penelope’s daddy, Scott Disick. A lot of celebrities who’ve attended previous Galas say they don’t ever plan on attending again. Demi Lovato had such an awful time at the 2016 event, she hasn’t been back since. Demi told Billboard it was “very cliquey” and there was one celebrity in particular who was extremely rude to her. We later found out that was Nicki Minaj. It was so uncomfortable, a then-sober Demi said it made her want to drink. Zayn Malik attended that same year, but don’t expect to see him again. He told GQ, “To do the self-indulgent ‘Look at me, I’m amazing” thing on the red carpet, it’s not me.” And Selena Gomez hasn’t been since 2018, when she fled in a panic because her spray tan kept cooking and she was turning orange.
