Alec Baldwin’s lawyer dropped a little bombshell yesterday during a virtual status update hearing. According to the “New York Post,” Alec’s lawyer told the judge that the gun that killed “Rust” cinematographer Halyna Hutchins had been destroyed by the state. He said, “That’s obviously an issue, and we’re going to have to see that firearm…or what’s left of it.” But a spokesperson for the DA’s office released a statement saying, “The defense’s unexpected statement in the status hearing today that the gun had been destroyed by the state may be a reference to a statement in the FBI’s July 2022 firearms testing report that said damage was done to internal components of the gun during the FBI’s functionality testing. However, the gun still exists and can be used as evidence.” The judge set a date of May 3 for the preliminary hearing in the case. Prosecutors have presented a list of 46 possible witnesses. Both Alec and the film’s armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed will appear in court on that day.

Next quarter, Stanford University is offering a course titled “All Too Well (10 Week Version).” The class is actually part of a program where Stanford alumni teach classes that range from travel sketching, improv acting, animation, music composition, and now an in-depth analysis of Taylor’s lyrics from her 2012 hit, “All Too Well.” This isn’t the first time Taylor’s music has been the subject of higher learning. Last year, NYU offered a class taught by a writer for “Rolling Stone,” and UT Austin offered a liberal arts course titled “Literary Contests and Contexts — The Taylor Swift Songbook.” In this course, Taylor’s work was studied alongside the likes of Chaucer, Shakespeare, Keats, Dickinson and Plath. And four of Taylor’s most-recent albums were “required texts.”

Jenna Ortega is in talks to join the cast of “Beetlejuice 2.” It’s been over 30 years since the original came out, so just to refresh your memory….Catherine O’Hara and Jeffrey Jones play a couple who move into a house with their daughter, played by Winona Ryder. The house had been owned by a now-deceased couple, played by Geena Davis and Alec Baldwin, who want this family OUT. So they make contact with a bio-exorcist named Betelgeuse, played by the amazing Michael Keaton, who makes a huge mess of things. So far Michael and Winona are the only two original cast members who have signed on for the sequel. I guess Alec is waiting to see how his trial goes….Jenna is obviously in talks to play the daughter of Winona’s character.

As Part-Time Justin says, “It’s Miley Cyrus Day!” Her new album “Endless Summer Vacation” and her Disney+ special both debut today. Last night’s album-release party was at the Gucci store in Beverly Hills. Miley showed up with her boyfriend Max Morando, who’s the drummer for a band called Lilly. Paris and Nicky Hilton left their husbands at home with the kids for Moms Night Out. Also there to support Miley were her mom Tish, Diplo, Dove Cameron and Baz Luhrmann. And making another appearance together … unconfirmed couple Shawn Mendes and Sabrina Carpenter!

James Kennedy posted on his Instagram Story, “It’s safe to say that this season of ‘Vanderpump Rules’ has turned into a Taylor Swift album. There’s easter eggs left and right, you’ve got to come find your easter eggs!” At least James is finding the humor in the situation. So here’s the latest in the ongoing Scandoval drama. So right after the news broke that Tom Sandoval cheated on Ariana Madix with Raquel Leviss — aka Rachel — Scheana Shay allegedly socked Raquel in the face and Raquel filed for a temporary restraining order against her. Now Scheana’s attorney released a statement saying Scheana never punched Raquel, Saying, “This entire case is a fabrication by a known liar and a cheat who has betrayed everyone close to her. Scheana never punched Rachel, period. The supposed dark markings around her left eye have been there for months.” The statement ends with, “We look forward to presenting the full and true story at the March 29 hearing.” Meantime, Lisa Vanderpump believes Scheana hit her. She told Andy Cohen on “Watch What Happens Live,” “I think she slapped her around the chops. But you know what? Her feelings would be running really high because Ariana was her best friend for like 12 years. You forget it’s not just the show. They were together working four or five years before the show. They grew up together. She very much kind of has Ariana’s back.”
