Listen to “Showbiz – Jan 18, 2024” on Spreaker.
In Netflix news, Love Is Blind is back for its sixth season on Valentine’s Day. They’re dropping the first 6 episodes that day, followed by episodes 7-9 a week later, then episodes 10-11 a week after that, with the grand finale on March 6. This go round, 30 singles from Charlotte are looking for love in the pods. They’ve all been revealed online if you want to go look them up. Season 2 of Monster is set to premiere sometime later this year. Season 1 was the story of Jeffrey Dahmer. Niecy Nash just won an Emmy for her role on that, by the way. For Season 2, Ryan Murphy has chosen to tell the story of the Menendez brothers, who are both serving life sentences without the possibility of parole for the murder of their parents. Erik and Lyle said they did it to stop years of mental and physical abuse; prosecutors said they did it to get their inheritance. Javier Bardem and Chloe Sevigny have been cast to play the parents. Cooper Koch is playing Erik and Nicholas Alexander Chavez is playing Lyle. Your grandma will recognize Nicholas. He’s plays Spencer Cassadine on General Hospital.

Back in September, we found out Usher would be headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show on Feb. 11. That same day, Usher will also drop his ninth album, Coming Home. Even if you can’t get tickets to the Big Game, a lot of people show up just to go to all the pre-parties. The first official party is Wednesday night at the House of Blues Las Vegas with Tom Sandoval serving as celebrity bartender. A handful of parties are planned for Thursday night. Steve Aoki will be at OMNIA Nightclub and Fat Joe at TAO. Even more parties are planned for Friday. Just to name a few, Zach Bryan and Leon Bridges are performing at The Chelsea, Tyga at Hakkasan Nightclub and Post Malone will be headlining at Fontainebleau. Then on Super Bowl Eve, among the many concerts scheduled, you’re got Luke Combs at the Chelsea and The Chainsmokers at XS Nightclub at the Wynn. Lil Wayne and T-Pain will be performing at an all-star celebrity golf shoot-out at Topgolf. Nelly is at Marquee; Zedd at OMNIA; DJ Pauly D at JEWEL. Sunday morning, Diplo and Dustin Lynch are performing at the pre-game concert. And right before kickoff, Post Malone will sing America the Beautiful; Andra Day will sing Lift Every Voice; and Reba McEntire will do her thing with the National Anthem.

Kensington Palace announced yesterday that Kate Middleton underwent a planned abdominal surgery on Tuesday. They didn’t say what it was for, but they did say it was successful. Kate reportedly will remain hospitalized for the next 10-14 days before heading home to recover further. And with that, the Palace said they will respect Kate’s request for privacy and only share “significant” updates from now on. The only reason she allowed them to share this much is because she had to postpone a bunch of engagements that were on her calendar. King Charles will also have a little procedure done next week. Buckingham Palace announced he will be in the hospital next week for surgery to correct his enlarged prostate.

TMZ was first to report that Doja Cat’s mom has filed for a temporary restraining order against her son, Doja’s brother. Deborah Elizabeth Sawyer claims both she and Doja — whose real name is Amala Raina Zadile Dlamini — need protection from Raman Dalithando Dlamini. Deborah says Raman has been physically abusive toward her several times over the past year and also threatening to kill her. She also claims Raman abuses Doja Cat and leaving her with cuts and bruises, as well as knocking several of her teeth out. Deborah claims she had been granted temporary restraining orders against her son back in 2017, but those have since expired. TMZ says a judge granted temporary court-ordered protection for Deborah, pending a hearing for a permanent restraining order. But the judge said Doja Cat would have to file her own restraining order request.

On his IG Story yesterday, Kanye showed off his new titanium dentures, which he compared to the 1970s James Bond villain, Jaws. The Daily Mail reported that Kanye had all of his teeth pulled and replaced with $850K custom dentures created by the “Father of Diamond Dentistry” Dr. Thomas Connelly. But Dr. Connelly told Complex, “He did not have his teeth removed. He still has a full dentition. Healthy and happy.” Meantime, TMZ reports that Kanye has filmed a 40-minute video apologizing again for his anti semitic rants. He reportedly plans to release it ahead of his upcoming album Vultures, which is scheduled to drop on Feb. 9.
