Moana 2 didn’t just open in first place…With $221M, it had the highest 5-day opening of all time, surpassing The Super Mario Bros. Movie with $205.6M. Moana 2 also has the highest Thanksgiving weekend of all time, beating out Frozen 2’s $125M 5-day Thanksgiving holiday haul back in 2019. Wicked came in at No. 2 in its second weekend, with $117.5M over the 5-day holiday stretch. With just over $359M globally SO FAR, Wicked also hold the record of being the highest-grossing Broadway adaptation in movie history, beating out 1978’s Grease. Sticking with the 5-day totals, Gladiator II placed third with $44M, followed by Dwayne Johnson’s other movie Red One in fourth with $18.7M and The Best Christmas Pageant Ever with $4.85M.

In injured celebrity news — Justin Timberlake shared on his Instagram Stories Saturday that he’s has to cancel tonight’s show in Oklahoma City because he hurt his back at his New Orleans show last Monday and doctors told him to rest. He added, “Thank you for your support — y’all know I hate doing this.” Back in October, Justin had to reschedule some shows due to the double whammy of bronchitis and laryngitis. And then he rescheduled a show in NJ because of an undisclosed injury. And now this. As of right now, his concert in Dallas is still on for this Friday and plenty of seats are still available. Our other injured celebrity is Elton John. He wrote the composition for the new musical The Devil Wears Prada, which is based on the 2006 movie. Vanessa Williams stars as Miranda Priestly, who is based on Vogue’s editor-in-chief Anna Wintour. There was a charity premiere in London yesterday and afterward Elton revealed to the audience, “I’ve lost my eyesight, so it’s hard for me to see it, but I love to hear it. And, boy, it sounded good tonight!” Back in September, Elton posted that he’d contracted an infection that left him with limited vision in his right eye. At the time, Elton said he was on the mend, but it would take some time before his sight returned. Unfortunately, that hasn’t happened. Elton also says his vision in his left eye isn’t the greatest, but he’s still hopeful it will be okay.

Miley Cyrus and her sister Brandi were guests on the Billions Club series and Miley’s highly controversial performance at the 2009 Teen Choice Awards came up. If you remember, a then 16-year-old Miley performed Party in the USA while pole dancing on an ice cream cart. Miley decided the time was right to share that it was all her mom Tish’s idea! Actually, she said Tish though it would be cool to perform the song in the setting of a trailer park and that the pole on the ice cream cart was actually meant to give Miley stability, but come on….There were other stable options besides a stripper pole. But Miley said Tish let her daughter take the blame for it, saying, “When I got in trouble the next day, you know who was nowhere to be found? Tish Cyrus.”

Last month, James Van Der Beek announced he’s battling stage 3 colorectal cancer. Even with insurance, treatment is extremely expensive. To raise money, James is selling autographed jerseys from his 1999 movie Varsity Blues, in which he played star quarterback Jonathan Moxon. In celebrity engagement news, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen took advantage of his bye week to say bye-bye to being a bachelor! He and Hailee Steinfeld were first linked in the spring of 2023, and now they are engaged. On Friday, they shared the news with a joint announcement on their Instagrams. They posted a photo of the proposal, which took place beneath an arch of flowers surrounded by tons of candles overlooking the ocean in Hawaii. They captioned it with the proposal date, which was a week earlier on Nov. 22. And Martin Lawrence’s oldest daughter, 28-year-old Jasmin is engaged to Eddie Murphy’s eldest son, 35-year-old Eric. We assume these two grew up in each others’ orbits but they’ve been dating for 3 years. On Saturday, Eric and Jasmin shared a joint post on Instagram of the proposal, set to Spend My Life With You by Eric Benét. Eric led Jasmin into a private dining room of a restaurant that an event planner transformed into a room of romance, with candles and flowers and butterflies a great big heart and a couple of guitarists and a professional videographer captioning it all like a movie.
