Weekend box office news… Jerry Lewis passed away… Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna’s custody agreement… Is Floyd Mayweather a bad influence on Justin Bieber?… and Jay-Z opens up about elevator fight with Solange

It was a weak box office this weekend, but “The Hitman’s Bodyguard” came out on top, debuting with $21.6 million in ticket sales. Last week’s number one, “Annabelle: Creation,” dropped to second with $15.5 million. And despite rave reviews and Daniel Craig’s interview on our show, “Logan Lucky” debuted in third with only $8 million. You can pretty much blame this on director Steven Soderbergh’s decision to skimp on marketing. According to The Wrap, rather than spend more to market the film than it cost to make it, Steven and his producer thought they would revolutionize movie distribution with a radical idea — “Lucky Logan” would only be marketed with money made from the post-theatrical distribution deals. That measly amount would then be used to target demographics whose walks of life matched those depicted by the characters in the movie. So basically, they ran commercials during NASCAR races in parts of the country where NASCAR is the most popular — the South and the Midwest. And instead of a Hollywood premiere, they held it in Knoxville. So their radical new approach apparently failed.

Jerry Lewis passed away peacefully yesterday at the age of 91. While known as a comic genius in France, he’s probably going to be most remembered in the US for his MDA Labor Day Telethon. For 45 years, Jerry hosted a telethon filled with musical guests and performers and celebrity friends, catching catnaps when he could during the 24 hour telecast. Over the years, he raised almost $2.5 billion for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna met with their attorneys on Friday to try to reach a custody agreement over their daughter Dream. Chyna and her team of FIVE ATTORNEYS showed up at the offices of Laura Wasser, who represents Rob. After several hours, nothing was resolved. So when Rob had someone call to have his Range Rover brought up to valet, Chyna pitched a fit because she bought that Range Rover for him and she had the decency to return the Ferrari and Lamborghini he had bought for her. TMZ says she actually jumped in the car and tried to drive away with it, but her attorneys convinced her that wasn’t a bright idea and she got out.

Justin Bieber has been surrounding himself with people at Hillsong Church who’ve been counseling him about cutting out the bad influences in his life, and apparently one of those bad influences is Floyd Mayweather. Justin unfollowed Floyd on Instagram and TMZ is reporting that Floyd went nuclear. Floyd says he stuck by Justin when he was going through his meltdown and now considers him to be a traitor.

Jay Z is being very forthcoming in his interviews to promote his new album “4:44.” He even addresses the elevator incident with his sister-in-law Solange, whom he says is NOT his sister-in-law. He says, “She’s my sister. Period.” He said they’ve had one disagreement ever, and apparently he has the worst luck ever because it was all caught on an elevator camera. But he does rap about it in his new song “Kill Jay Z” and he admits it was over his cheating. He says, “You egged Solange on knowin’ all along, all you had to say you was wrong. You almost went Eric Benét, let the baddest girl in the world get away.” And in the same song, Jay also raps about his feud with Kanye. He says Kanye went to far when he got on stage and talk about his wife and daughter. He said, “We’ve gotten past bigger issues, but you brought my family into it. Now it’s a problem with me.”
