Meg Ryan on the small screen… Olivia Wilde delivered a baby boy… Chris Brown’s trial postponed… Avril Lavigne’s offensive video… and George Clooney and Steve Wynn’s heated meeting in Vegas
Last year, Meg Ryan was cast in an NBC comedy that never got past the pilot stage. She would’ve played a pleasant, kinda spacey mom who finds herself working for her former intern at a NY publishing house. Oh well! But Meg is getting another chance at the small screen. CBS has cast her as the voice of Future Sally in “How I Met Your Dad.” So if CBS picks up the series — and all signs say they will — we won’t get to see her, but we’ll hear Meg’s voice every week.
It was a pregnancy that rivaled the length of Jessica Simpson’s, but finally — on Easter Sunday — Olivia Wilde delivered a baby boy. She and fiance Jason Sudeikis named him Otis Alexander Sudeikis. The couple haven’t announced a wedding date.
Chris Brown’s trial for assaulting a photo bomber in Washington, DC, was supposed to start yesterday. But now that his trial has been postponed until June, Chris has to get back on board a Con Air flight to LA, where he will sit behind bars until his trial date. At that point, he will board another Con Air flight back to DC to go to court. If he’s convicted, the judge in the Rihanna case could find him in violation of his probation for beating her and send Chris to jail for four years.
Avril Lavigne’s spokesperson told MTV the video for “Hello Kitty” wasn’t supposed to be posted online in the first place, but it was! And it was quickly pulled, but not before the video was slammed for being racist and just plain awful. In the video, Avril quotes lyrics in Japanese and dances around with four Asian women dressed in matching outfits. Billboard called it “an embarrassment in any language.” Fans were way more outspoken. One said, “Not sure if this Avril Lavigne video is terrible, racist, or terribly racist.” Another said, “I’m not sure which makes it harder to watch the new Avril video: that it’s offensive and racist or just weird.” Avril tweeted her response to the uproar: “RACIST??? LOLOLOL!!! I love Japanese culture and I spend half of my time in Japan. I flew to Tokyo to shoot this video……specifically for my Japanese fans, WITH my Japanese label, Japanese choreographers AND a Japanese director IN Japan.”
George Clooney and Rande Gerber have a tequila line together and were in Vegas to promote it. While they were having dinner with Vegas hotel owner, Steve Wynn, things got heated when Steve started talking politics. Sources say George played it cool and refused to engage in the conversation…until Steve brought up Obamacare and called the president an a**h***. That’s when George reportedly said, “President Obama is my friend. Don’t talk about him like that.” Steve called the president an a**h*** again, and George pointed his finger at Steve and said, “No, YOU’RE the a**h***.” That’s when Steve’s bodyguards eased up behind George and Rande. But before things got out of control, George and Rande decided to leave. Steve is telling everyone that this whole thing was George’s fault because he did too many shots and got drunk. But Rande told TMZ that no shot were had and nobody was drunk. He said, “This wasn’t about politics. It was about George standing up for a friend.”
