Eminem’s mother has passed away… Post Malone show… Sabrina Carpenter & Barry Keoghan split… Azealia Banks & Matty Healy engage in heated exchange… and Apple Music confirms Taylor Swift was their TOP ARTIST
Eminem’s mother passed away Monday after a long battle with lung cancer. Debbie Nelson was 69. Eminem and his mom had a rocky relationship, to say the least…He accused Debbie of negligence and abuse and called her out on tracks like Cleanin’ Out My Closet. In 1999, Debbie hit her son with a $10M lawsuit, claiming defamation and emotional distress. In 2007, she wrote a tell-all, My Son Marshall, My Son Eminem. But things seemed to be better by 2013, when Eminem released his song Headlights with lyrics like, “I went in headfirst, never thinking about who what I said hurt / My mom probably got it the worst.” He also rapped that he was “mad I didn’t get the chance to thank you for being my mom and dad.” But whatever progress that was made apparently disintegrated because from what we hear, Eminem financially provided for his mom, but hadn’t spoken to her for years. As of right now, Eminem hasn’t commented on Debbie’s death, but his half-brother did. Eminem was about 14 years old when Debbie gave birth to his baby brother Nate. When he was 8, Debbie placed Nate into foster care. When Nate was 16, Eminem adopted him. On his Instagram story yesterday, Nate posted, “Hatred and mixed emotions today.”

Post Malone performed America the Beautiful at last year’s Super Bowl, but this year, he’ll be making a more intimate appearance at a free show he’ll perform at the Fillmore in New Orleans the Friday before Super Bowl Sunday. To get tickets, fans 21+ can DM or comment #PostyBLBackyard and #Sweepstakes on Bud Light’s Instagram and Facebook posts. That doesn’t guarantee you anything, but supposedly, doing that will get you more information about Posty’s show. And Kendrick Lamar is really digging the idea of performing in a football stadium because after his Super Bowl Halftime performance, he and SZA are hitting the road for a stadium tour. They’ve got 19 stadiums booked, starting April 19 at the home of the Minnesota Vikings. They’ll visit the homes of the Texans and Cowboys and Falcons and Panthers and Eagles and Lions and Bears — oh my! — and a bunch more, wrapping up at the home of the Commanders on June 18. There’s an exclusive Cash App Visa Card pre-sale today and then the general sales start Friday.

In September of last year, Sabrina Carpenter went to a screening of Saltburn, and she liked what she saw. A few weeks later, Sabrina and Barry Keoghan officially met at Paris Fashion Week and by early December, they were dating. And here we are a year later and we’re finding out the rumors are true. Sabrina and Barry have broken up. No scandal here. A source told People, “They’re both young and career-focused, so they’ve decided to take a break.” Fan reactions are mixed. While some claim to be heartbroken, others are super okay with it. As one posted, “Good bc she can do way better.”

Azealia Banks saw a photo of Charli XCX on X and commented that Charli “used to be sooo pretty.” Matt Healy came across the comment. He could’ve just kept it moving, but no…he decided to let Azealia know, “All the women you attack seem to be culturally relevant, attractive, divisive and NICE people. I think this makes you jealous cos you’re so talented but everything else about you is a failure. Just rap bro.” There was some back and forth, but then Azealia said Matt’s fiancé Gabbriette Bechtel was “Frankenstein looking” and called Matt a “homosexual heroin addict.” That’s when Matty said, “I am not the one…” He then went on to say that if he runs into Azealia at an awards show, he wouldn’t “side eye” her…he would slap her so hard that he’d get a Guinness world record for the highest a wig has ever flown. Matt quickly apologized for saying he would slap a woman, but pleaded with Azealia, “You just can’t keep being so mean about my mates and my mrs it’s really hurtful gets me well defensive.” But the damage was done. Matty is getting skewered. One person commented, “They are both trash humans but matty healy threatening to slap a black woman here just further proves how trash he is.”

Apple Music and Spotify both named Taylor Swift as their most-streamed artist of 2024. But rather than kick the Beyhive, Billboard decided to name Beyoncé as the #1 Greatest Pop Star of the 21st Century, putting Taylor at #2. They actually leaked that Taylor would come in second right before Thanksgiving and the controversy has been brewing ever since. And now that they’ve officially named Beyoncé as #1, Billboard is trying to explain themselves, saying, “While Taylor Swift is the century’s biggest pop star by the numbers — from album sales to streams to touring dominance — our editorial staff has chosen Beyoncé as our No. 1 Greatest Pop Star of the Century, based on her full 25 years of influence, evolution and impact.” Are they serious? Apparently, they are. Billboard doubled down, “Few artists this period can match (Beyoncé) in any of the most critical basic categories of pop stardom – commercial success, performance abilities, critical acclaim and accolades, industry influence, iconic cultural moments – and absolutely no one can equal her in all of them. Even Taylor Swift, the lone artist who really challenged Beyoncé for the top spot on these rankings – and who does have a clear statistical lead on Bey in many key categories; more on that later – simply hasn’t been around for long enough to be able to match the expansiveness of her quarter-century of dominance.” Even if you’re offended on Taylor’s behalf, she’s completely okay with this. In fact, she’s just looking forward to wrapping up her tour this weekend, celebrating her 35th birthday on Dec. 13, and spending Christmas with Travis Kelce and their families.
