Reboot of ‘A League of Their Own’… Jay Leno defends Ellen… More Britney Spears family members will come forward… Bradley Cooper & Jennifer Garner’s flirty beach day… and TikTok to find the next pop superstar

Here’s your big reboot lineup! In what they said was one of the worst kept secrets in Hollywood, Lionsgate announced that Jennifer Grey will star and executive produce a new “Dirty Dancing” movie. The original premiered back in 1987. It cost $5M to produce and went to to gross $218M. And Amazon Studios is bringing back a new series based on the 1992 movie “A League of Their Own.” The hourlong series will follow new characters who are part of what was the real-life All-American Girls Professional Baseball League. And Keke Palmer will voice a new character in “The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder” for Disney+. She plays the 14-year-old activist Maya Leibowitz-Jenkins, the adopted daughter of mixed race parents. And it was also announced yesterday that Keke will host this year’s VMAs on Aug. 30.

“The Ellen DeGeneres Show” has been on summer hiatus while former employees have been slamming Ellen for a toxic work environment. It took a minute, but some of Ellen’s celebrity friends finally started showing their support, and now they’re getting slammed for it. That didn’t stop Jay Leno from chiming in. He tweeted, “I don’t discard a 40-year friendship on hearsay. The Ellen I know has raised over $125 million dollars for charity and has always been a kind and decent person. I fully support her.” But “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend” star Rachel Bloom offered a different perspective. She tweeted, “Just wanna say that I have both worked behind the scenes of tv shows and been the celebrity guest on them and the two experiences are very different. Having a good time being a guest does not necessarily have anything to do with the experiences of the employees. I’m not saying this to put anyone on blast, I just wanted to offer my POV as someone who’s had the amazing fortune to experience both worlds. Also, I’m not implying that anywhere I’ve worked or guested on has been bad. I just know that they are two profoundly different experiences.”

Britney Spears’ brother and then her father gave rare interviews regarding Britney’s conservatorship. Big brother Bryan admitted Britney doesn’t like being told what to do, but said the conservatorship has been great for the family. Daddy Jamie said those behind the #FreeBritney don’t know what the heck they’re talking about and said he’s been getting death threats over it. Now Us Weekly has a source saying we’ll be hearing from others in Britney’s family — including Britney’s mom Lynne — who want to see the conservatorship end. It’s up for review on Aug. 22.

A lot of people are shipping Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Garner after they were seen playing on the beach in Malibu with his 3-year-old daughter. I ain’t mad at that! Bradley and Irina Shayk broke up last year, and sources say Jennifer and her burger chain boyfriend John Miller broke up right before quarantine began. The two of them have known each other since they met on the set of “Alias” almost 20 years ago. It was rumored that they dated back then, but that was never confirmed.

President Trump issued an executive order forcing the sale of TikTok. The company has a Chinese owner, and the Trump administration is concerned that the private information of American TikTok users could end up in the hands of the Chinese government. So now they’ve got 45 days to find a buyer, or it’s bye-bye TikTok. Over the weekend, Microsoft said they were in talks to buy the company’s operations in the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. Meantime, the show must go on! Simon Fuller is partnering with TikTok to find the next breakout music group. Simon will look through the submissions, hoping to find the right talent that they’ll join together in what they hope will be the next supergroup, à la One Direction. All auditions will be in-app, so keep checking the app for details.
