Glenn Close did “DA BUTT”… DMX’s funeral procession… Captain America 4 is in development… ‘The Crown’ struggling to find actor… and A big celebrity relationship roundup

Listen to “Showbiz – Apr 26, 2021” on Spreaker.

In what may go down as the lowest-rated Oscars telecast in the history of awards shows, the press this morning has a lot of adjectives for last night’s broadcast — slow…boring…strange…woke…infuriating. For instance, there was a trivia contest in the middle of the ceremony where celebrities had to guess if a song was nominated or not that ended with Glenn Close doing “Da Butt.” And that right there was the highlight of the night. And when the producers decided to change up the order of things and announce Best Movie before Best Actress and Best Actor, the audience assumed it was because heavily favored Chadwick Boseman was expected to win posthumously for his performance in “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” and there would be a huge tribute to him to end the night. Nope! Anthony Hopkins won for “Father.” But it was 4am in England and he was asleep so Joaquin Phoenix accepted in his honor and “Goodnight, everybody!” Other big winners last night included “Nomadland,” which won Best Actress for Frances McDormand, Best Director for Chloe Zhao, and Best Picture.

DMX was laid to rest Saturday afternoon. His casket was driven through NYC in the back of a ginormous monster truck. Sources say Kanye West and his Yeezy brand raised $1M for DMX’s family by selling custom DMX tribute shirts in partnership with Balenciaga for $200 each. Those shirts sold out within 24 hours and it’s unclear if they’ll make more. Kanye and his Sunday Service choir performed at DMX’s memorial service.

A fourth “Captain America” is in the works, but there’s no indication yet that Chris Evans will return. This movie is being developed by the guys behind the Disney+ series “Falcon and the Winter Soldier,” so it’s possible that the Captain America movie will continue the story of the Falcon — who is played by Anthony Mackie — and whether or not he becomes the new Captain. SPOILER!!! If you remember in “Avengers: Endgame” Steve Rogers — played by Chris Evans — retires and gives his shield to Sam Wilson, aka the Falcon, which is where “Falcon and the Winter Soldier” picks up.

According to “The Sun,” producers of “The Crown” are having a hard time finding someone to play Prince Andrew in Season Five, and filming is set to begin in August. It’s so bad that the production company has posted an ad on a casting website for out-of-work actors. Season Five will cover 1991-1997 and will include the breakdown of Charles and Diana’s marriage. This would put Prince Andrew in his mid-30s to early 40s, but because of the Epstein scandal that’s come to light over the past couple of years, nobody wants to touch this role. A casting source told “The Sun,” “Prince Andrew is one of the most unpopular members of the royal family and wannabe stars aren’t exactly queuing up to play him.”

Celebrity relationship roundup! Kim Kardashian is rumored to be dating CNN’s Van Jones, but I think this is wishful thinking. This rumor pops up from time to time and there’s zero proof that they’re seeing each other….just a lot of “sources” talking to gossip magazines. As far as Kim’s sister Khloe, she’s finally back with Tristan Thompson and seems to be quite blissful, but here comes somebody else trying to ruin Khloe’s happiness! Some woman named Sidney went on a random podcast and claims that she and Tristan “talked and hung out” multiple times around January or February. Vague enough? Sidney says she asked Tristan if he was single and he said he was, but when she found out the truth, she stopped hanging out with him. Mm-hmm….And Jennifer Lopez ended things with Alex Rodriguez a little over a week ago, so why were they having dinner together at Hotel Bel-Air in LA Friday night??
