Movie Box Office news. Celebrity babies. Price Harry, Meghan Markle, and Netflix. Golden Globes gift bag contents. And the Celebrity Lawsuit Roundup!

After a close holiday battle with Sonic the Hedgehog 3, Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King pulled ahead to win the first box office weekend of 2025.  Mufasa took in $23.8M here at home. Globally, it’s earned just over $476M to become the 10th top-grossing movie of 2024. Sonic 3 came in second this weekend with $21.2M. Yesterday Paramount announced that the franchise as a whole has crossed the $1B mark worldwide. The vampire movie Nosferatu opened on Christmas Day and in its second weekend of release, it earned another $13.2M for a third place finish. Disney’s Moana 2, which has been out for 6 weeks, earned $12.4M to take fourth. And Wicked rounded out the top five, with another $10.2M.

A couple of D-List celebrities welcomed baby girls to the world. On December 28, Gypsy Rose Blanchard and her boyfriend Ken Urker welcomed their baby girl Aurora, who weighed in at 6 lbs., 5 oz. Aurora’s birthdate just so happened to land on the one-year anniversary of Gypsy Rose’s prison release date. Gypsy Rose served 8 and a half years for the second-degree murder of her mom, Dee Dee Blanchard. While behind bars, Ryan Anderson wrote Gypsy Rose a letter, they fell in love and got married. But shortly after she was released, Gypsy Rose reconnected with her old boyfriend Ken, and Ryan is now the ex-husband in this love triangle.

And if you remember Sophia Grace and Rosie from The Ellen DeGeneres Show, Sophia Grace is now 21 and she has just welcomed her second baby. She posted photos on Instagram yesterday, announcing her baby girl’s birthdate of Dec. 29, but stopped short of sharing her name. Her son River will be 2 next month. Sophia Grace has been in a relationship with her children’s father since she was 16, but has kept his identity private.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle signed a reported $100M deal with Netflix to produce content. So far we’ve gotten 2022’s Harry & Meghan, which became the streamer’s most-watched documentary series. A couple months ago, Harry’s passion project, the docuseries Polo, failed to crack the Top 10. And on Jan. 15, we get Meghan’s new 8-part lifestyle series, With Love, Meghan. Netflix dropped the official trailer over th weekend and from the looks of it, we’ll see Meghan in her element — cooking, gardening, harvesting honey from bees, baking a cake for Mindy Kaling and entertaining other friends who are probably famous but I don’t recognize. There’s also a cameo from a cute snoring dog and a brief glimpse of Prince Harry, just to give it a little Royal sparkle.  Whether or not we get to see their kids Archie and Lilibet remains to be seen.

Nikki Glazer did a great job hosting the Golden Globes. Demi Moore and Zoe Saldana gave beautiful, heartfelt acceptance speeches, Melissa McCarthy killed it as a presenter, and Harrison Ford is cranky, has no sense of humor, and I don’t know why he even agreed to participate. You can look up all the highs and lows, winners and losers…but I want to talk about Golden Globes GIFT BAG! For the 100 winners and presenters, Robb Report curated the world’s most luxurious gift bag worth $1m. While each celebrity can choose from gifts listed in the Ultimate Gift Book, they’ll all receive a custom weekender bag made exclusively for this year’s Golden Globes. Everything else is optional, as long as they’re willing to pay the taxes. And while some items are available for any and all 100, some experiences are available for as few as one! For instance, only one person can snatch up a private flight and stay in Finland to see the Northern Lights, which is valued at $48K. But five people have a shot at a 2-night stay and whisky experience in Tasmania, Australia, valued at just under $5K.  But here’s the full list of products and experiences offered in the Ultimate Gift Bag, per Robb Report

Celebrity lawsuit roundup! After 8 years, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt have officially settled their divorce. Back in 2019, a judge declared them divorced and single, but they still needed to hash out child custody issues and the tedious splitting of the assets. However, the divorce settlement does NOT affect a separate legal dispute about the French winery, Chateau Miraval, that they owned. Brad sued Angelina for selling her half of the winery without following the rules they’d spelled out during happier times.

Meantime, Nicki Minaj could face criminal charges following allegations of assault made by her former manager, Brandon Garrett. While Brandon has filed a lawsuit seeking damages for alleged assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress, the Detroit Police is looking into whether criminal charges will also be filed. Brandon claims that back in April of last year, Nicki summoned him to her dressing room and flew into a rage when she found out Brandon sent someone else to pick up a prescription she needed. He claims Nicki repeatedly told him his life was over before she slapped him across the face and on his wrist, knocking paperwork out of his hand.

And finally, Blake Lively has filed a federal lawsuit in New York against Justin Baldoni, Wayfarer Studios, and others, alleging sexual harassment, emotional distress, lost wages, and a smear campaign to damage her reputation. The lawsuit stems from alleged inappropriate behavior on the set of It Ends with Us that culminated in an all-hands-on-deck meeting to address Blake’s claims of a hostile work environment that included fat-shaming. Blake’s lawsuit claims that demands embraced and approved by the studio to promote the film were completely ignored by Justin. So while Blake was promoting this as a flowery chick-flick, he focused on the message of breaking the cycle of domestic violence, which made Blake look bad. Blake also submitted screen shots of text messages between Justin and his publicists which she claims proves they were trying to take her down with a public smear campaign. Not only has Justin called Blake’s claims false and defamatory, he’s also filed a $250M libel lawsuit against The New York Times for allegedly misrepresenting details in its coverage of the controversy.
